Since introducing its RISE™ Cylinder, an electromechanical alternative to hydraulics, RISE™ Robotics has formed various industry partnerships to deploy the technology in a range of heavy-duty vehicle and equipment applications.
Most recently, the company partnered with Anthony Liftgates to improve energy use of lift gates on heavy trucks. RISE™ Robotics has also begun several projects with the U.S. Air Force aimed at modernizing the design of equipment to help increase efficiency and agility in the field.
In this interview with Power & Motion, Arron Acosta, CEO, and Blake Sessions, chief technology officer, at RISE™ Robotics discuss these partnerships and how the company’s technology is aiding electrification of heavy equipment, as well as enabling efficiency and other performance benefits.

According to Acosta, the RISE™ Cylinder is an advanced linear actuator technology capable of providing the same high force and speed capabilities of hydraulic alternatives. However, it is more efficient than hydraulic cylinders and does not utilize hydraulic oil which can leak and cause heat to be generated and energy wasted.
The RISE™ Cylinder's ability to operate more efficiently greatly benefits its use in electric-powered equipment where efficiency is vital to ensuring optimal battery life.
With the move to electrification in various applications, and many manufacturers' lack of knowledge in the area, the ability to deliver full system solutions is becoming increasingly important. As such, Sessions said RISE™ Robotics offers battery packs and other necessary system components along with the RISE™ Cylinder because it wants to be a full system supplier for power transmission technology for electric vehicles
