Feb. 21, 2013
Coal Prep, the only annual trade show and conference in the U.S. dedicated to coal preparation and processing, says international participatin is up, on the heels of news that it has partnered with the Kentucky Coal Association.

Coal Prep International Exhibition and Conference 2013, the only annual trade show and conference in the U.S. dedicated to coal preparation and processing, is increasing its offerings at this year’s event April 29-May, in Lexington, Ky.

On Feb. 14, Coal Prep announced that it has partnered with the Kentucky Coal Association (KCA), to launch the "KCA Symposium," a new one-day forum focused on delivering more business intelligence and insights for coal preparation and mining professionals during the Coal Prep, April 29 - May 2 in Lexington, Ky.

KCA advocates for the coal industry and works to enhance the ability of the Kentucky coal industry to compete in domestic and world coal markets.

This collaboration will promote networking and discussion of issues facing the coal industry among lobbyists, coal producers, manufacturers and service providers. Content will focus on education, discussion of policy, regulations, and the future of the industry. CLE and PDH credits are available for attending the Symposium.

The symposium will feature a "CEO Power Panel" dinner and discussion, "Where Does U.S. Coal Go from Here?" CEO Power Panel speakers include:

  • Steve Wunning, CEO Mining Div., Caterpillar
  • Peter Socha, CEO, James River Coal Co.
  • Ben Hatfield, President & CEO, Patriot Coal Co.

In addition, show organizers expect increased international participation, reflecting a growing global demand for U.S. coal and interest in U.S. preparation and production practices.

This year's event will cover the latest ideas and most effective techniques for preparing and processing coal, with an additional focus on the operational, regulatory and legislative factors that influence the export of US coal to other countries.

"In the US, export of coal will continue to increase to support expanding global demand," said Coal Prep Show Manager Florence Torres. "In the current coal industry environment, it is essential to speak globally about coal, and Coal Prep is the most concentrated professional forum for processing world for that conversation."

Specific industry topics scheduled to be covered at Coal Prep 2013 include:

  • Analysis/Sampling
  • Chemical Applications
  • Coal Sales
  • Consulting/Construction Engineering
  • Distributor/Equipment Sales/Manufacturing

Organizers expect more than 3000 participants from around the world, including buyers from Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, India, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Mongolia, South Africa, Russia, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and other countries involved in coal preparation.

Now in its 30th year, Coal Prep, which is produced by Penton Media and sponsored by Coal Age, focuses on the latest ideas and most effective techniques on coal preparation and aggregate processing plant technologies.
