The American Gear Manufacturers Assn. (AGMA) and National Fluid Power Assn. (NFPA) have joined forces to create the Motion + Power Technology Expo, happening at Detroit’s TFC Center (formerly Cobo Center) Oct. 15 to17. The event is a new trade show and conference expected to connect 4,000 attendees, including manufacturers, suppliers, buyers, and experts in mechanical, fluid power, and electrical technologies. More than 300 exhibitors from across this supply chain will showcase new products and services encompassing gearing, machine tools, and electric drives.
The MPT Conference will be held Wed., Oct. 16, and Thurs., Oct. 17, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. both days. Presentations will run 45 min. followed by a 15-min. Q&A period. Presentation topics are organized into two concurrent tracks: Business and Emerging Technologies. An area that may be of particular interest to those in the fluid power industry is “Economic Outlook and Trends within the Industrial Fluid Power Market”, presented by Chloe Parkins, fluid power specialist at Oxford Economics.
In-depth education courses will also be offered and are scheduled for all three days of the event. Three concurrent sessions will be held from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 5 p.m. all three days. Fluid power topics will be presented by representatives from the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Session titles are “Hydraulic Fluid Properties, Efficiency, and Contamination Control”; “Overview of Fluid Power Components and Systems”; and “Fundamental Understanding of Electro Fluid Power Technology”.
