New Boston by Danfoss Antistatic Hoses Improve Safety for Oil and Fuel Transfer

May 29, 2024
The Boston by Danfoss EHP530 and EHP531 antistatic hoses are designed to increase safety and ease of use for oil, fuel, and gas transfer applications.

Danfoss Power Solutions developed the Boston by Danfoss EHP530 and EHP531 antistatic hoses to provide increased safety reliability, and ease of use for oil, fuel, and gas transfer applications.

Key features of the EHP530 and EHP531 antistatic hoses include:

  • protection against static buildup
  • flexibility for easier installation
  • pressure ratings up to 150 psi and 300 psi, respectively and
  • high-tensile textile reinforcement with copper wire.

Design Features Prevent Static Buildup

Danfoss' EHP530 and EHP531 antistatic hoses include several design features to ensure the safe transfer of oil, fuel and gas. The inner tube of these hoses is constructed of a specialized antistatic rubber compound which the company said ensures 100% antistatic performance.

High-tensile textile reinforcement with copper wire for grounding is included in both hoses. There is also a steel helix wire to prevent collapse during suction, helping to enhance the performance and overall reliability of these hoses.

In addition, the hoses have an NVC blend rubber cover to provide ozone and oil resistance to further enhance their reliability in the harsh environmental applications in which they will be utilized.

With these design features, as well as their 3:1 safety factor, the hoses can protect against static buildup and discharge in suction and delivery of oil and fuels.

Hoses Offer Easy, Reliable Performance

Danfoss has developed the antistatic hoses to maintain their pressure ratings for consistent performance, no matter the size of hose used or application.

The EHP530 hose has a pressure rating of 10.5 bar (150 psi) and is available in sizes ranging from -12 to -192 while the EHP531 features a pressure rating of 20.7 bar (300 psi) and is available in sizes ranging from -16 to -128.

The hoses are compatible with a variety of oil and petroleum types, including petroleum products with aromatic content up to 50%, enabling use in a wide range of oil & gas applications.

Ease of use is a key feature of the antistatic hoses as well. Both hoses are more flexible in nature, making them easier to handle during installation — which can particularly benefit hose routing in space constrained applications — and use. Dual ink and embossed laylines are included on the hoses to aid hose identification, even after a long service life noted Danfoss, helping with traceability and hose replacement.
