Poclain Makes New Investments to Accelerate Electromobility and Connectivity Development
Poclain Group, parent company of Poclain Hydraulics, is taking a financial stake in two technology companies in an effort to advance development of electromobility and connected services solutions.
Capital investments are being made in:
- EMSISO d.o.o, a Slovenian company with engineering expertise in electrical machine control and inverters.
- SAMSYS, a French startup specializing in the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence and data capture with a main focus on agricultural machinery.
The investments are part of Poclain's long-term strategy to invest in energy and digital innovations set out by CEO Frédéric Michelland in 2020.
EMSISO will be a phased acquisition for Poclain, and will aid development of solutions for electric vehicles. Electrification for off-highway equipment is a key area of focus for Poclain; the company already offers several electric and electrohydraulic technologies but is interested in expanding those offerings further as the desire for electric powered systems and vehicles increases.
EMSISO's emDrive range of motor controllers and battery management systems are currently utilized to help drive Poclain's electric and electrohydraulic solutions. emDrive features CANOpen compatibility, integrated speed control and other aspects beneficial to electric vehicles. Through the acquisition the companies will be able to bring together their expertise to further advance solutions for the market.
The investment in SAMSYS will bring together each company's expertise in machine and business solutions to create digital services aiding with everything from prototyping and design phases of new machines to those machines series life in the field. Poclain says in its press release announcing the new business investments that these developments with SAMSYS are done in response to the growing demand for high value-added services which meet the business needs of customers.
Poclain states in its press release these new business investments will help bring new skills to the company which will enable deployment of innovative solutions to benefit customers.
