NFPA Offers Latest Hydraulics-and-Pneumatics Industry Trends Report

The National Fluid Power Association (NFPA) released its latest update for hydraulic- and pneumatic-industry trends. The full report is available to NFPA members, and provides graphical data and charts to outline the most current trends and anticipated changes in markets and customer markets.

The National Fluid Power Association (NFPA) released its latest update for hydraulic- and pneumatic-industry trends. Data was collected from more than 80 fluid-power-product manufacturers by NFPA’s Confidential Shipment Statistics (CSS) program. The full report is available to NFPA members.

Here is a look at a few graphs and charts to outline the current trends and anticipated changes in hydraulic and pneumatic markets.

Pneumatic, Mobile, and Industrial Hydraulic Orders Index

1. The data on the graph compares this year's orders to the previous year's orders. Each point can be read as a percentage. For example, industrial hydraulic orders received from February 2015 to January 2016 were 85.9% of the orders received from February 2014 to January 2015. (Base Year 2013 = 100)

2. According to the 12âmonth moving average, both hydraulic and pneumatic shipments decreased in February 2016. (Base Year 2013 = 100)

3. The table expresses percent differences between relevant cumulative total in 2016 and 2015. For example, the January pneumatic shipments figure of â14.9 means that for the calendar year through January 2016, pneumatic shipments decreased 14.9% compared to the same time period in 2015. (Base Year 2013 = 100)

Overall, industry shipments of fluid-power products for February 2016 decreased 12.3% compared to February 2015, and increased 4.9% compared to last month. Mobile hydraulic, industrial hydraulic, and pneumatic shipments decreased in February 2016 compared to February 2015, and increased when compared to last month.
