The ME (embedded version), MR (port-mount version), MHP (port mount 25mm hex housing), and SS-7 (Subsea port-mount) series of linear-position sensors measure piston rod position of hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders. The sensors use a simple coil design for contactless inductive sensing and feature IP-67-sealed aluminum or stainless steel housing. They can be fitted into a hole that is gun-drilled into the cylinder, but also feature male O-ring port threads to fit into magnet O-ring bosses that accept magnetostrictive transducers. The sensors do not use trimmer pots for setting zero and full scale and do not require associated control systems for basic output scaling. Rather, proprietary SenSet calibration matches analog output of the sensors to the actuator or cylinder motion. The new SS-7 series operates in water at depths to 12,000 ft. The maximum operating temperature is 85˚ C, with 105˚ C optional.
